March 2018 – Chestnut

A lovely stay with our niece Lesley Simcox in her delightful cottage.  A welcoming and beautiful, comfortable abode, with everything we could wish for provided.  Thank you so much.

October 2017 – Chestnut

A warm welcome, well stocked and immaculately clean cottage.  Well located for the wedding at St. Chad’s, Shrewsbury (worth a visit) and the the reception venue at Shootershill Hall.  Also visited the beautiful gardens at Powys Castle (near Welshpool) – a National Trust property.  Thank you for a fabulous stay.  We wish to return again.

August 2017 – Chestnut

Our 2 and 4-year old children had a magical time in their holiday cottage, lawn and forest walks.  This meant as parents we had a great time too.   Our day trips included:- steam train at Bala Lake,

Ellesmere (boat trips, walks), the Quarry Playground and Splash Park, Attingham Manor (natural playing field superb for children, Shrewsbury Castle.  Keep a look-out for “hidden Shropshire rocks”.  These are stones decorated by children and hidden all around Shropshire for other to find and hide again.  We found them at the Castle, Ellesemere and Attingham Manor.  Hope you enjoy your stay as much as we have.

August 2017 – Chestnut

Had a really enjoyable time here.  Found Shrewsbury interesting and so easy to get there using the Park and Ride.  Visited the British Ironworks near Oswestry when one of our party had a blacksmith experience!  Well worth a visit to see all the wonderful sculptures.  Will definitely make a return trip.  Thanks for the Scrabble.

July 2017 – Chestnut

Family holiday with mum who is a wheelchair user.  Fab location, excellent facilities, very helpful and knowledgeable owners.  Thank you for a wonderful stay.

July 2017 – Chestnut

We’ve enjoyed a short break visiting the birthplaces of numerous ancestors, butchers, carpenters, a milliner in Shrewsbury, surrounding villages and as far as Luldow.  There was a honeymoon in Grinshill when a rail strike prevented the journey to Ilfracombe!  We can recommend Butchers Row, The Shrewsbury Museum and tea in the Old Market Hall.  The eldest member of our party had second thoughts about this visit, but the accommodation has been so thoughtfully conceived, it has been a pleasure to return each evening – for all of us.

June 2017 – Chestnut

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in your lovely, clean holiday cottage.  Enjoyed our visits to Much Wenloch and Bridge North and were joined by other members of our family for a visit to Ironbridge.  Visited Market Drayton on Wednesday and by sheer good luck found it was market day.  A lovely quaint little town.

May 2017 – Chestnut

We’ve had a lovely, lazy time.  The facilities at the cottage are excellent.   We had a good day in Shrewsbury, made use of the Park and Ride, which made life easy.  Enjoyed the market in Wem and found the doctor in Clive extremely helpful.

April 2017 – Chestnut

Peaceful and restorative.  Thank you.

January 2017 – Chestnut

We booked Chestnut Cottage for a family wedding at Pimhill barn nearby.  My son was the groom and Alice Cubbin, the bride.  Cottage warm and cosy,  home from home.  We had a wonderful wedding and wonderful stay.  Thank you.

Christmas 2016 – Chestnut

We had a big family reunion at Wem.  So booked two of those beautiful cottages as accommodation.  A couple of us had stayed in this cottage some 11 years ago so remembered how we were made so welcome.   This cottage was decorated for Christmas, just like home, the bottle of wine, tin of shortbread, chocs etc.  The cottage was warm and cosy.  We had two New Zealand visitors with us, loved the countryside around and outlook from back of cottage.   Thank you everyone at Newton Meadows for making our Christmas so wonderful.

June 2016 – Chestnut

Very clean, very welcoming.  Very good position for visiting many places.  We started our holiday with a guided town walk which made us want to visit/see many of the interesting places.  Enjoyed ourselves very much on our first visit to Shrewsbury.  Very good holiday – no complaints.

Four Americans  (two parents, two adult children).  Here to visit friends in Clive.  Your cottage was perfect for us.  It had everything we needed and more!.  We really appreciated the tea, coffee, milk and cookies you provided – that was very thoughtful!   And the flowers.  We plan to come back.

May 2016 – Chestnut

(Husband 90, wife 85 and daughter 60).  We’ve had a most enjoyable week, weather good, cottage excellent.  During the week we were able to enjoy a mid-day meal at the Corn Mill Restaurant in Llangollen where we were joined by other family member to celebrate my 90 birthday..  We enjoyed a visit to Ellesmere and an afternoon at Sleap Airport, shopping at the best C0-op in UK at Wem and looking round the town.  Altogether a very pleasant and generally restful week with the countryside at the height of its’ glory.  A memorable week for each of us.  Many thanks for your warm, friendly welcome.

May 2016 – Chestnut

I stayed in Oak cottage last September 2015 and made my mind up I would return with my 88 year old mother-in-law who is in a wheelchair.  Nothing about this stay disappointed.  Lesley, Allan and especially Jasmine could not have done any more to make our visit wonderful.   The weather was not too good but the gardens, wild life and atmosphere made a relaxing, enjoyable and memorable time that my mother-in-law and I shall treasure.  Thank you.

April 2016 – Chestnut

We’ve enjoyed our stay in this comfortable and well appointed cottage.  Lovely views from the sun room of the garden, pond, trees and fields beyond.  Excellent days out at Attingham Park and Sunnycroft (both National Trust properties).  Also Shrewsbury (St. Chad’s church is very impressive and unusual design).

April 2016 – Chestnut

Excellent accommodation in a lovely setting.  The facilities for my 95 years old father were very good and my two year old grand-daughter thoroughly enjoyed her visit.

February 2016 – Chestnut

Very warm and cosy cottage, well equipped and peaceful setting.  Grand-children enjoyed a walk around the grounds and found the swing!  Very comfy bed, enjoyed my rest.  Will come back again if I need accommodation in Shropshire to visit family.

To dear Bill, Janice & Lesley.  Staying at Newton Meadows was really our home away from home this past week.  Your helpfulness, kindness and love to us will stay with us forever.

Our second visit to the cottage. Lovely warm welcome, everything you need.  Spotlessly clean.  Nice quiet area to relax with family.

June 2017 – Oak

Enjoyed the long days of June here in Shropshire.  Such a lovely place to stay and really good for getting around in a wheelchair.  Good nurseries and garden centres where we bought lots of plants we have been looking for and where we found some more unusual plants!  The Country Rose Garden is beautiful and worth a visit and is very nearby and a bit further away, near Welshpool we found Dingle Nurseries and Gardens,  British Ironworks Centre.  Beautiful countryside and  a lovely garden here with lots of wild life.  It’s been a great place to stay.

We have enjoyed our stay at Newton Meadows very much while visiting elderly friends and relatives in this area.  We found the property very well equipped, spacious, nicely furnished and ideal for both families and disabled (particularly for the latter into which I fall).

June 2016 – Oak

We stayed here 16 years ago when our youngest was 6 months old.  In that time things have changed in the area but the cottages are just as clean and comfortable as they were.  Thank you for a lovely stay, hope it won’t be another 16 years.

A very peaceful location.  Despite there being snow the first two days the venue was lovely and warm.   The facilities catered fully for easy access needed for wheelchair use.   Looking forward to visiting again in warmer weather to be able to fully use the outdoor facilities.

August 2017 – Maple

A perfect venue for our family gathering.  The facilities catered for our 9 year old through to our 88 year old mum – it was a perfect place to come back to after a wedding at Pimhill Barn.  Thank you for your care and attention.  Nothing was too much trouble.

July 2017 – Maple

Thank you for providing such a well adapted cottage with lots of space downstairs for a wheelchair and hoist.  The hard floors and wide doorways are especially helpful.  We have appreciated the cleanliness of the cottage and enjoyed the outdoor space for playing games and watching the wildlife especially the moorhen chick.  The surrounding area has many interesting places to enjoy especially Hawkstone Park, Chiric Castle and Ellesmere.  We would love to come back sometime.

April 2017 – Maple

Extremely impressed with “everything”.  Cleanliness was top notch.  We had a fabulous visit made even better by the lovely woodland and grass area.  Two children under five made good use of it!  Thanks to all for making us so welcome

We had a lovely relaxing time- which was just about what we needed.  The glorious sunshine enabled us to enjoy our patio, the extended garden, pond and woods.  We had a lovely BBQ one evening.  Breakfast, lunch and tea on the patio for 3 days.  It was perfect.  Highly recommended.

February 2016 – Maple

We booked the cottage at the last minute – but we are so pleased that we did.  Lovely cottage and as 2 of us have mobility probs/ use wheelchairs etc it was fantastic to find a cottage so well suited to our needs.  We have been busy but would love to come back and enjoy exploring the grounds and local area.
